Terminology:
Anti-fighter Weapon (AF weapon) - A weapon specifically designed for use in neutralizing fighters, but having minimal effect on bombers or capital ships.
Aspect Lock - Condition achieved when a target ship has remained within your targeting reticle for a given amount of time, allowing a missile to guide itself to the target.
Aspect-seeking Missile - A projectile weapon which requires aspect lock in order to guide itself to its target.
AWACS - Acronym for "Advanced Warning And Control Systems." System of support used where visibility or sensor efficiency is compromised, as by a nebula or electromagnetic storm.
Beam Turret - A subsystem of capital ships from which high-energy beams are emitted.
Blast - The resulting explosion from an impact of a weapon.
Blast Radius - The measure of the region affected by an explosion due to impact.
Bomber - An aircraft specifically designed to carry high-payload weaponry.
Capital Ship - A ship which serves as a station for military personnel and is used in battles to engage large amounts of aircraft or other ships.
Comm Subsystem - Short for "Communications subsystem." A subsystem which is used for communicating with other ships in the area.
Countermeasure - A device which diverts an incoming missile away from your ship.
Cover - To provide defense for another ship.
Debris - Any remnants of ships, weapons, or asteroids which have previously been destroyed.
Disabled - Status which refers to a ship whose engine subsystem has been destroyed.
Dock - The act of securing one ship to another, as to transfer materials and or persons from one ship to the other.
Docking Bay - Point at which docking of a particular ship takes place.
Electromagnetic Interference (EM interference) - A series of EM signals which cause disruptions to function of subsystems.
Evaded - Status of a missile when a countermeasure successfully diverts it from your ship.
Fighter - An aircraft designed for high maneuverability and dogfight abilities.
Fighter Bay - Bay from which fighters may be launched.
Flak Turret - A subsystem which fires anti-fighter weapons from a capital ship.
Friendly - Description applied to a ship which has been assigned to the same task as you are.
Heads-Up Display (HUD) - The collection of indicators and instrumentation including target distance, hull integrity of the target, and radar.
Hostile - Description applied to a ship which has been given orders in conflict of your own.
Hull Integrity - The relative condition of the outer surface of a ship.
Indeterminate - Description of the result of an inconclusive scan of cargo or subsystems.
Laser Turret - A subsystem which functions in firing laser beams at hostile ships.
Lead - Targeting device which indicates the position of where a weapon should be fired in order to strike a target.
Missile - Any of several secondary weapons designed to cause greater damage than a primary weapon; often a self-guided device.
Missile Launcher - Any subsystem which launches missiles.
Nav Subsystem - Short for Navigations Subsystem.
Neutral - Description of one who has not taken favor of any one side.
Online - In working order, functional.
Primary Weapon - A weapon, such as a laser cannon, which gains its energy directly from the ship.
Rearm - To reload a ship with new weaponry.
Repair - To alter a ship to reverse damage done to it.
Secondary Weapon - A weapon, such as a missile, which does not gain energy from onboard reserves.
Sensors Subsystem - Subsystem which is responsible for a ship's ability to scan other ships.
Subsystem - A structure of a ship which performs a specialized function, such as an engine or sensor.
Support - Service provided by specialized ships which includes rearming, repairs, and recharging of countermeasures.
Target - Any ship which another attempts to strike.
Weapon - Any device designed to inflict damage upon a target.
